Planting Schemes & Advice in Essex

Planting Schemes & Advice

Creating a healthy and biodiverse outdoor space requires more planning than you might first think. Our arborists and tree planting specialists in Essex are here to offer expert advice and develop planting strategies that ensure well-designed gardens with healthy, long-lasting vegetation.

What does our planting advice and design service include?

The team at Crown Tree Services is made up of highly qualified arborists and tree surgeons who have a deep understanding of what plants need to flourish.

So, whether you have a shaded, north-facing garden or a sunny spot with chalky soil, we can advise you on:

  • Which trees and plants to include in your garden or outdoor space
  • The conditions they need to grow well
  • Where to plant them and how far apart
  • How to care for them

Site surveys

We can assess your site to work out what you need. We’ll look at the soil and drainage conditions, how much light the area gets, and what existing vegetation you have there.

If it looks like any trees, shrubs, or hedges will need removing, we can carry out safe felling and removal services to prepare the space for planting.

Species selection advice

Once we know what we’re working with, we can help you choose the best trees, shrubs, and plants for the location. We’ll recommend those that will grow well in the context of your garden’s conditions.

Our commitment to biodiversity means we’ll ensure a varied selection that provides wildlife habitats, encourages pollination, and enhances the environment. If you’re looking to go further, our habitat creation service can help you establish dedicated wildlife-friendly spaces alongside your planting scheme.

However, we’ll also take your requirements and preferences into account. So whether you need ornamental shrubs, fast-growing hedges, or privacy-enhancing trees, we’ll guide you toward the best species for the job.

Planning permission and compliance

Before we carry out any work on a tree, we always perform the necessary planning searches. If a tree is found to be protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or located within a Conservation Area, we can handle all the required paperwork and permissions on your behalf. We’ll also make sure that all plans comply with British Standards and any relevant local authority guidelines. This may include navigating conservation area rules or conducting ecological surveys to identify existing habitats and wildlife, ensuring all work meets legal and environmental requirements.

Planting design

To ensure your trees and plants grow well, we need to think about the planting layout. Placing them too close to one another can lead to competition for light, soil, and vital nutrients. It’s also worth considering how the sun moves around your garden to choose the best spot for different species.

Then there are the practical and aesthetic aspects:

  • Do you need your trees to line the edge of a park?
  • Are there paths or ponds to navigate?
  • Does your garden slope at an angle?

With our garden plant design service, you can have peace of mind knowing every piece of vegetation is in the perfect place.

Planting and maintenance

Beyond the initial planting, we can offer ongoing landscape maintenance services to keep your space happy, healthy, and tidy for the long haul.

Domestic Planting & Maintenance

We can help with the physical planting of your trees and vegetation, ensuring they take root successfully and thrive in their new environment. Beyond the initial planting, we also offer ongoing landscape maintenance to keep your outdoor space looking its best – healthy, tidy, and well cared for throughout the seasons.

Commercial Aftercare Management

For commercial planting projects, we offer a comprehensive aftercare management service designed to support the critical early years of newly planted trees. This includes implementing watering schedules, formative pruning, stake and tie adjustments, and monitoring tree health to promote strong, balanced growth. These early interventions are essential to help young trees establish properly and perform well in the long term.

Steve and his team are highly recommended for a friendly, fast, efficient and tidy service. Had a 100ft overgrown garden totally cleared and now maintained to a high standard for my elderly bed-bound mum, who feels confident to leave her treasured garden in their hands. I also have had my garden cleared of bushes and trees and redesigned exactly to the way I wanted so that I can manage it on my own. Nothing is a problem for these guys, highly recommended. You get what you pay for!
